As your Dad, you make me proud. And I confess part of your goal-orientation outlook may be the genetics I passed along to you….you sound like me….

Credit to Matt for sharing this post so I found it. Felt like this section was a direct reach into my mind to find the words that I didn't know I was feeling:

Cutting it short somehow feels like a failure. Like if I run 5 instead of 7 it might as well not even count (even though I’d given myself a range that clearly included 5). The course has been selected / the goal set : the run must be completed.

This goal oriented mentality applies to all aspects of my life, down to even the most menial of tasks. It’s one of the many reasons I struggle to accept verbal compliments. Acknowledgements of ‘good job’ or ‘thanks for doing all that’ go unheard because why would I have done anything less?

I feel you (again). Got sinusitis and it’s so annoying, but knock on wood, now the kids are alright. I remembered how we started with also a kid in a crib, but changed it very soon to the family bed, so waking up in the night if not the nicest thing, but at least in most cases we don’t have to fulfill any wishes and get up. That’s the situation now for ten years and I’m really looking forward to changing it to just a parents bed (with a tear in my eye).

i was anti-bed sharing but after finding myself sleeping in a chair at some point during the night for the last month i’m starting to rethink my boundaries. hope you’re feeling better and back to your training!

Everything is a process. And we did so many things, we never expected to do 😂 Thanks for the wishes. A few more days and then hopefully the shoes will be laced up again.
